The BenRiach 18y.o PX sherry finish.

Ive been a fan of sherried whisky for quite some time now, which is strange as when I first started drinking whisky I found it difficult to drink and would avoid it.  What happened? I can only guess that as my palate developed I started to enjoy picking out the flavours of a more complicated […]

Lemon and citrus on the nose with slight spice. On the palate slight marzipan and candied lemon finishes with sweet and oaky notes. Arran 10 y.o 46% Pale straw colouring. […]

Tobermory 15 y.o Sherry Cask

Tobermory 15y.o sherry cask    Oloroso influence is prominent on the nose, specifically orange peels and citrus note along with a light smoke. The palate is well balanced with citrus peels, raisins, and just enough spice on the finish. Oak influence is prominent throughout. Long finish, buttered spice. Well balanced.  I tried this whilst visiting […]

Cadenheads Tobermory 19

Cadenheads Tobermory 19 y.o Sherry Cask  Not overtly sherried on the nose, slight sweetness with a touch of wood. Palate is intense floral fading to green wood. Touches of tannins and light tobacco. Fino-esque dryness. Remarkably easy drinking for such a high alcohol content. Water adds a slight sweetness and eases the initial floral […]

Alongside it she bought me this book.  I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to both whisky and Antarctic exploration so it appealed to two […]

Hepburns Choice Dailuaine 8y.o 46%

On the palate it seems mildly spiky and astringent and then fades to slight sweet notes. Remains hot in the mouth throughout. Sherry influence but not prominent. Maybe needs further […]
