Spent an enjoyable afternoon with my whisky wingman sampling some great ales and a few drams to go alongside.
Black Wolf Brewery Valente’s Double Espresso.
Wow, just wow. So, so dark and flavoursome its like having an espresso soaked balaclava on backwards at night
Eden Mill Brewery Claret Finish
Rich dark ale with slight chocolate notes and hints of red wine tannins. This is briliant.
Eden Mill Brewery Callejo
Another awesome dark ale from Eden Mill. A fruity ale matured in ex-Islay whisky casks which gives a great peaty aftertaste. This is best served alonside a good peated whisky as an accompaniment. I paired mine with a Laphroig Select.
Wells Banana Bread Beer
Easily drinkable but fruity ale. Like drinking a banana infused ale cake. Worth trying. Tasted alongside a Gordon and McPhail Speymalt, from the Macallan distillery.
Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted
A golden ale with a slightly citrus finish. According to the label its a mix of 4 different hops. Winner of The WBA Worlds Best Beer Award 2007.
