If you only ever read one of my articles, please make it this one.

Every year, just before my Fathers birthday I like to go whisky shopping.

It’s nice to try and choose a bottle that, not only might we both like,  but we can taste, discuss, appreciate and enjoy together.

It’s a nice feeling to know that I seem to have inherited my fathers passion for whisky, even though it didn’t arrive till later in life.

September 4th would have been my fathers birthday had he not lost his fight with cancer in 2011. There is not a day goes by that I do not miss him greatly.

I like to open his birthday bottle, pour myself a large dram and think of him.

This is not meant to be a tearful story, it’s not meant to be upsetting. It’s meant to get everyone to raise a glass to their fathers and to appreciate everything they have done and continue to do for us.

Maybe by raising a little money for cancer research we can keep more fathers and sons sharing drams together for a little longer.

If you would like to donate there are some links below.  Maybe if you see a charity collector when you are on your way to work or heading home, you could donate enough for a dram to help people when they need it most.

Thank you.
