This weeks nomination comes from Johnnie Stumbler, a.k.a The Nosing Arse.
Its probably best to let Johnnie introduce himself…
The Nosing Arse (aka Johnnie Stumbler) is more blaggard than blogger, however, with nearly a thousand drams and two dozen distilleries under his belt, is fast approaching the ranks of the obsessed. He has a nasty habit of referring to himself in the third person. He promises to work on that.
My Desert Island Dram would be Old Pulteney 17
It may seem strange that, with any whisky in the world at my fingertips, I would skip the Broras, Port Ellens, ’74 Ardbegs etc. and go with a £60, mid-range bottle. However, in my opinion, the OP17 strikes a perfect balance between drinker and thinker. Easy-going enough to be an everyday dram, it has a structure and complexity I could spend a lifetime dissecting. A classy nose, near-perfect palate and a robust finish, it just about ticks all my boxes. Oh, yeah, it also has a reference picture of a boat on the bottle; handy for building my own, should I want to nip down the shops for a cigar.
