This weeks Desert Island Dram nomination comes from Steve Ury. Based in Los Angeles, Steve (Sku) has been blogging about whisk(e)y since 2007.
To be honest, the things I think of when I think of a desert island (brain frying heat, coconuts, foot burning sand, Tom Hanks, sunburn, coconuts, dehydration, Gilligan, dying alone) don’t really make me feel like kicking back with a whiskey. Although, I suppose it could be a really nice desert island with indoor plumbing and coconut powered radios and friendly animals and off-shore tax havens.
But maybe I’m being too literal. I’m and equal fan of Scotch, bourbon and rye, and given how different they are, it would be tough for me to pick just one of those types of whiskey because I’d miss the others too much.
I must admit that High West is a new one on me so I’ve had to do some
Googling research. It turns out that it is available in the UK and is a blend of Bourbon, Rye and Scottish mainland Whiskies.
I’m going to order a sample (available here) and hopefully get round to reviewing it in the next few weeks. If anyone has already tried it then please get in contact and let me know what you think.
