Flaviar – a new way to try whisky.

I’m always trying to get more people into drinking whisky and for them to try as many as they can.

Its ok for those of us who have friends we can sample swap with or are lucky enough to receive samples for review purposes.

A bottle of whisky is a big investment if you haven’t tried it before and with taste being such a personal issue nobody wants to get stuck with a bottle they don’t like (happens to the best of us)

Step forward Flaviar, an online company who specialise in letting you try themed tasting packs and then gives you the chance to purchase bottles only after you have tried them.  Flaviar contacted me recently and asked if I would be interested in reviewing their product. Being a fan of their idea I jumped at the chance.

The package arrived and I was not disappointed. Inside were 5 neatly packaged 45ml bottles as well as tasting notes and instructions.  I really cant fault the packaging as it  looks great. Definitely the best looking samples I have received in a long time.

Contained within were samples of Auchentoshan 12, Glenlivet Founders Reserve, Talisker Storm and Laphroaig Quarter Cask. All are good solid whiskies and present a varied spectrum of whisky styles, ideal for finding out what suits your palate.

You can join Flaviar as a monthly member and as such will receive 3 samples per month.  If you like them then you can then order full sized bottles with free shipping.

Alternatively you can purchase gift tasting packs for your friends or family.

  1. Darn it! I wish something like this was available in India! No chance with our customs dudes and dudettes… so for now – envy! 🙂

  2. I’ve purchased a few packs in the past. Packaged lovely and the samples are more generous than some competitors too. Pricing is a little high (for me personally) to be a monthly member, but for the occasional tasting set, I can’t fault them.
