What is the story with Claxtons Tobermory?

Following on from last weeks review of Claxtons single cask bottling of a Tomatin 21, this week we will take a quick look at their 20 y.o Tobermory.

Tobermory 20y.o, IB, Claxtons, 48% abv, Cask no:1501-652 (available here)

The nose has light peat, citrus zest and a malty, cereal notes. The palate continues with light, smoke, honeyed apricots, lemon pepper and a slight gristiness. The finish is smooth and long with elements of distant bonfire and white ash. All in all a very pleasant, lightly peated islander.

48%abv keeps it punchy without overshadowing any flavours, I didn’t feel the need to add any water to this.

As before this is an impressive offering, again at a reasonable price. Thanks to Claxtons for the sample.
